I know we need to sign some experience if we can but signing two more back row forwards from Maesteg, one of who is 34, wouldn't have been my priority. In fact their best backrow forward against us last season was Steffan Jones and he's been picked up by Swansea. We already have good young back rows in Tindall, Newall, Pitman, Jonny Jones who never let the side down last year unlike more experienced players.

i'm more concerned about our lack of 2nd rows. Nathan White - Aberavon, Tom Evans - Glam Wands, Kyle Maiden - Pontypool, Mike Powell - London Welsh, Gareth Williams - banned (on way to Cardiff anyway). Let's hope we can find an experienced player in this position or we will really struggle next year.

I'm sure we'll find some experienced players in the 2nd row position, it is the priority area, but where we'll get them from god only knows????

Gazette confirmed Karl Hocking's arrival today, but that's the only 1 confirmed.

Don't know if it's true, but a raven supporter I was talking to on Tuesday said we have signed back-rower Rhys Garfield from Pontycymmer.

Rhys was the player who was jailed for 15 months for stamping on an opponents head during a match, which happened 3 seasons ago.

actually karl hocking is just 32 and was maestegs most consistent player over the past few seasons. so he can bring experience to the younger players as he is a good footballer and developed a tighter aspect to his game. i spoke to someone who told me he was not playing rugby league for the bulls this season so he could have a good pre season and give his all for the ravens next season. good luck to you for the season.
from a maesteg fan.

Local boys Luke Hathaway, Marc Bennett, Lloyd Howell, and ex-Raven Chris Davies are also there.

Agreed, lets hope we can make some good signings to compete. The Neath squad looks even stronger this year than last (God help us!!) and even Cardiff have made some additions, Craig Morgan and Lee Jarvis have signed for them (if rumors are to be believed.)

I think we are way to good to be struggling down the bottom half of the table again, what let us down last year was failure to convert scoring opportunities.  We had a poor start to the season too, we didn't win our opening games and at any level of sport, when you lose for a continued period you get into the habit of it.  Too often as supporters we were willing to accept "an away bonus point" for losing by 7 or less but I think we are capable of more. Lets hope Paul has assembled a good squad to pick up some away wins, to build on our good home form!

Mark David is in the mend now so lets hope he's chomping at the bit ready.  He did make an impact when he was fit.

Any other news
