Where now?

After this afternoons poor performance there need to be some changes.

The line out needs to be simplified. We should work on throwing to Peers. We arent getting him high enough.

The forwards have to improve at the breakdown. We seem to stop when we reach the breakdown area rather than driving past it to secure quick ball. Lloyd O'Connor should then have quicker ball.

Hancock has to be rested. We dont play any rugby with him at 10 and I think the pressure is getting to him. Once Mark David went to 10 we were more direct. He talked to his 9 and controlled the players outside him.

I think those changes would help but The Ath showed the most important thing we lacked. Passion! I dont think they missed a tackle. It mattered to them.

Come on Bridge - you CAN do it!

I think that was the worst display by a Bridgend side, i have seen in ages.
No leadership, no ldea, and no passion. carry on like this and we will be in big trouble

very dissapointed....but we cant expect 2 win a game with very  poor  linout ball. . our scrums were gd in patches but thats not gd enough . we were slow to the brake down  and when we did win the ball it was slow coming back for the 9 .  we need to get 1st phase sorted to win games in this league . . rucking needs to be better  to give our backs a platform and go forward!

Forget the league table for now. We need to focus on US. Remember, we had 9 points from 2 games last season and still got relegated. The team isn't worth looking at until November at least.

It's too early to panic, this is a brand new team that has only played 2 competitive games together.

They need to stick together and not have the swapping and changing that  we had last season.

It's going to take a while and we have to be patient, and give them a
chance.

I agree that there shouldn't be wholesale changes and we don't have the players anyway. most of the change has to be tactical. line outs and our approach at the breakdown obviously need a lot of work.

having said that there was a total change in the direction of our back play once mark david went to outside half. he suits the style of our centres as he stands flatter, passes better and is more direct himself. hancock has got time to develop but at the moment the team needs an outside half who will direct other players around him. one other thing is that if hancock stays he must learn to make more ground from penalties to touch. a couple of times yesterday he had the chance to relieve pressure with penalties and he put the ball into touch still in and around our 22 and he had put the ball where he was aiming.  those types of decision don't build confidence in the team.

as i've said his time may come but we need a better leader at the moment.

we got completly bullied 2day! we didnt want it end ov story, they did! they fully deserved to win. peers wales 18s captain? id rather have they number 4 who worked his nuts off all game! and as for jonny jones who was 8 for them yesterday i thought he was outstanding! the only player who has a decent game for us was oconner at 9, everyone else didnt deserve to be wearing a bridgend jersey! absolutly gutted!!
gareth10

i am hearing this from a third party..

but i heard we dominated at scrum and lineout time.?

so what the hell happened yesterday.?

also i heard that our kicker not sure who kicked yesterday missed 5 simple ones at goal.

as you say we need to stick together and play a settled team to find there feet.

also there was a bit of good news yesterday as Tonmawr where beaten and have now shown that they are not invincible.!!
rugbyfan

cant member him missing 5, id say about 3 and 1 of them was dead infront of posts on the 22 and the others a little to left and to the right. scrum we dominated but i can remeber them winning 3 or 4 of our lineouts!
we are suposed to be going for promotion and the ath looking to stay in this league, but it looked like we are the ones who need to be looking to stay in the division!
John.C.Raven

Angry and VERY disappointed. We were clueless and lacked passion.
It was most embarassing and I am getting the same sinking feeling I had last term!!!!!
I quite agree that we cannot seem to generate any decent quick ball and our set pieces were too much of a shambles to attack from.
It is not Tom Hancocks fault.By the time he gets the ball he has the opposition defence in his face and little option with two similar crash ball centres outside him.Jack Bird had hardly a pass and we rarely used our full back in an attacking role. By the time Mark went to ten the opposition was tiring. WE must persisit with Tom but ensure hes given better ball and much quicker.Against a tired defence last week he looked wicked.
The gelling excuse is valid but I have a horrible feeling our squad just aint good enough for this league..and it breaks my heart.
I shall be going to unbetaen Felinfoel next week more in desperation than anticipation. The coaches must be tearing their hair out. Sad  Sad  Sad
