we should do this - each match has different school invited1st October 2008
V.I.P. day for Waunceirch Pupils at Neath v Bridgend.
The John Smith's Gnoll will be invaded by school children on Saturday 4th October when Waunceirch Primary School pay the double champs a visit.
The local school has been heavily involved in Primestart since it launched in 2005 and after seeing the hundreds of Alderman Davies Pupils at the Gnoll on the 20th September, Deputy headteacher Nigel Thomas nominated Waunceirch as the school to cheer on the blacks against Bridgend.
All 220 pupils have been given complimentary tickets for the match and have also been encouraged to bring along two family members for free.
The youngsters have promised to bring along their own banners and make as much noise as possible once the game kicks off.
The VIP's have been asked to get to the ground early to meet with Neath Rugby squad at the new family marquee situated behind the ‘Cow Shed.'
Rowland Phillips, director of Rugby commented:
"Waunceirch Primary are a fantastic school and we look forward to welcoming pupils and their family to the Gnoll on Saturday for the VIP matchday treatment. I hope their vocal support will spur on Neath to victory."

Couldn't agree more - we need to sell the club to the kids and build up a fan base to 'ward off evil spirits'. RL are making the effort - all the more reason we should - after all our game at premiership level is a better product than even Super League Bish-bash-bosh in my one-eyed view.
The lads on the field and coaching staff are doing the job results and quality wise - time the club in general started selling itself a bit more pro-actively. No sense just waiting for WRU revenue to increase or money and support to magically appear - we need to earn it. Let's generate some interest and crowd support.
Schemes like this cost little and are worth a lash at least - I hope we as a club follow suit or hatch our own schemes to generate a new cohort of Ravens.
Well done for laying the Neef bogey, Paul and the boys - let's shove one over the All-Whites on Saturday.

We have previously been in to schools and promoted this, but the club had little or no takers. They monitored the ticket types through the gate, and a very low number of children took advantage. We'll be looking at this in the future.
The new Ravens fixture lists are now out, if ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN HELPING TO DISH THESE OUT TO PUBS, BARS, SHOPS, CHIPPIES etc then email info@bridgendravens.co.uk . As you all know, the club has no paid employees apart from players and coaches, so the club is reliant on individuals taking up much of their time for the good of the club. You must understand this, and without an increase in supporters, and individuals offering help, it's a rather viscious circle!
We will also be having features in The Seaside News (every month now until the end of the season) and also on The Best of Bridgend website.
There are two aims for this:
i) more support and fan base
ii) more support from local businesses
Watch this space.

We don't own the ground, let alone be able to choose to put on a game before ours.

What about asking some of the players to come and help take a training session for each local school to get them aware that there is a team in bridgend

Most of them are busy with their full time jobs. At the end of the day they are only semi professional players with no obligation to turn up for anything apart from training and games.
