Jonny Hooper is quite short, but the rest aren't that small!

He played quite a lot of games for Maesteg last season from what I can remember, and they've always had a tough pack, so fingers crossed he can do the business!!!

There's more to come surely, with a couple more backs and second rows needed. We need to get to the 30 mark, atm 23 which is a good start. Pleased with signings

it says in the gazzette that Chris Tossel is staying any news.?
Marvin cant play no more because of injury, i think we should get him on board as a coach.
has the club been in contact with James Murphy(fullback / outside half ) at Pencoed, very talented player.?
We also need to sign a ball carrying 8, another second row, winger and an experienced prop forward.
saying that i am happy with the signings made so far, as i said earlier who is Mathew Davies (other than tich..LOL) .?

Experienced prop forward? Andrew Millward anybody? Surely he can do a damn fine job!!!!!!! Another second row? We only have 1 at the moment and he's about 100 years old!

In that case, my first choice team for next season would be;
15. Gareth David
14. Chris Weightman
13. Geoff Hobbs
12. Gareth Howells
11. Dan Connolly
10. Mark David
9. Johnny Hoopers
8. Karl Hocking
7. Matthew Tidball
6. Dale Newell
5. Keith Stewart
4. Rhys Garfield
3. Rhodri Jones
2. Scott Baldwin
1. Lee Davies
Obviously, if we have Webby, Bevington and Pitman available they can slot in somewhere!
Promising.

5. Don't know
4. Don't know
3. Andrew Millward
2. Scott Baldwin
1. Phil Price
If Webby is ever available, he'd be in, so would Bevington and Pitman would probably replace Newell.
Don't know enough about Garfield although I thought he was a back row and I can't imagine what sort of season we'll have if we have to pick Stewart or Hocking (he was past it in a poor Maesteg side last year)!!! Let's hope we can find some decent second rows or we'll really struggle.

andrew millward playing.? news to me.! i thought he was coaching.?

what makes you think that? He hasn't retired so he must be playing somewhere. Surely he's got to be at games on a Saturday in order to do a decent coaching job. So he might as well play.

He will play for the Ospreys whilst the internationals are away at the Autumn Internationals and Six nations, whilst coaching us. There may be a chance he will play for us if we are short, but he's been bought in as a coach, right?

Agree with the need for extra second rows, but disagree with the rest. Hocking is a good professional and I am overjoyed we have signed him. Whatever people say about him being "past it" I would disagree. He is what, 32? Just because he was part of a poor Maesteg side, doesn't make him a bad player at all. He will have plenty to give to the team, as will Keith Stewart! Experience is key if we are to battle in this league, its not as easy as some people think, we can't go and cherry pick the best in the league anymore!
HTH.

If everyone fit I would pick the following
15.G David
14.C Weightman
13.G Hobbs
12.G Howells/C Tossell (If still with the club)
11. D Connelly
10.M David
9.R Webb ( If Available) / J Hooper
8.R Pitman (If Available) / k Hocking
7.M Tidball
6.J Jones
5.?
4.?
3.A Millward
2.S Baldwin
1.R Bevington (If Available)/ P Price
What has happened to David bishop where is he playing his rugby next season

What is the truth behind Tossell? Staying, going? Gone?

Who knows... training commences 2moro at Pencoed College, so only time will tell who is staying / who is going / who is coming.

Tossell is training with kenfig hill who are coached by Craig Warlow, who also works at pencoed college, whom we have a tie up with, gut feeling is he will stay.
|

Warlow is at Kenfig hill? Maybe that is why we are playing them? Good news if true about Tossell if he can relive his form of a few seasons ago!

Saw on a press release from Tonmawr a while ago that they had signed Tossell. He isn't on our squad list so I think he's probably gone.

Rumour has it Bailey Group put £300k into Cardiff.
Tonmawr sugar daddy has a very successful hotel while Neath has a certain Mr Hawkes bankrolling them.
Every one at Bridgend Ravens is striving for a better, more successful future for The Ravens... but don't forget - Rome wasn't built in a day!!!

One hell of a squad Cardiff are building. My money is on them to win the league next year... as hard as it is to say!!!!
What a bunch of quality signings they've made.

Cardiff are spending more money than Neath. Neath claimed in a recent article that five other clubs are spending more than them in terms of wages. If this is true, how do we compete?
Adam Whitney isn't on their squad list this season. Di-dums!

How do any club without the resources of the top 5 compete?
From where I stand... it looks like the Welsh Prem clubs are throwing money at players, therefore not helping the regional situation.
The regions are signing foreigners all the time... so what hope do we have in the long term? Answers on a post card please.

I'm thinking the same. I think the WRU are a bit gutless on this issue, restrictions of some sort need to be put in place in terms of spending money on players. We are probably bottom of the table when it comes to paying and buying players.

Not sure these clubs are producing anyone who is good enough to play in the Premiership. Went to see a game with Tondu few months back on a Friday night and I can safely say there was no-one on that pitch who would be able to play in the Premier Division sadly. And if they was any, I'm sure other clubs would have snapped them up. Money is the root to all evil!

sorry - but pencoed have a handful of players that could make it given the chance(and we have allready missed out on one as above.!) and in fact pencoed and the atheltic are in the same division the way we r going we might as well be the ath..!!
