Think the game today was very poor silly penalties being given away as indicated straight from the kick off, first up tackling was pooras well as getting turned over far to often to be able to compete, same players performing week in week out! Need a few new faces next year to be able to compete with the top half in desperate need of a set of half backs especially 10 Rolling Eyes

Agree with all above, the way we are playing I for one will be glad to see the end of the season, says one who really looks forward to our games usually   Exclamation

We need to make sure we are in the Premiership next year before we think about staying up

Think we should be safe as Maesteg have 4 games left so can only get a maximum of 20 points, one of the 4 games is away to ponty so don't think they can win that and at the moment they are 15 points behind us.  Need to improve next year though?
BALDRAVEN

yES BUT GOING ON YESTERDAYS PERFORMANCE WE HAVE TO PULL SOMETHING OUT OF THE BAG, seeing as we have Ponty twice and I don't think they will be complacent with them games either.

Rolling Eyes WHAT DO THE COACHES  DO IN TRAINING ?,BECAUSE THE PLAYERS DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT TO DO WITH THE BALL WHEN THEY HAVE IT. A VERY POOR  DISPLAY AGAINST PONTY AND WHAT A WASTE OF AN AFTERNOON ,I COULD HAVE BEEN WATCHING PAINT DRY AND I WOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER DAY Laughing

I'm surprised at the calls for new half backs after a game in which our forwards never gave them any consistent ball and our full back spent most of his time stood at outside half. Perhaps we should consider recruiting a backs coach who isn't one dimensional insisting that the ball is spread wide to an outside centre who doesn't have the pace to make an outside break but looks like he would be a real threat as an inside centre (when Hobbs came on our backs looked a greater threat). We simply drift across the field when we have the ball. Ponty mixed it up well. They kicked well and ran straight and from depth and look at the problems they caused. Although you must have a basic  plan before you begin our coach should give our half backs more freedom to make choices as they see the game on the pitch. When Mark David ran straight and fast at the end of the match he cut them open and the other players came on to the ball at speed. (I know the game was over but there is potential there.)

We have to remember that we have a very young pack and those youngsters are trying very hard - look at the efforts and attitude of Jonny Jones, Scott Baldwin and Nathan White when he came on. I am more disappointed by the approach of the more senior players.

we were not good enough yesterday, end of.

Agree with the above, the senior players seemed to go missing, disappointing too, when you get to the quarters you expect better

Back to the drawing board folks..

I think we need 6 points to be guaranteed to stay up, and thats if Maesteg win all their games with a bonus point. I cannot see it happening.

I am not sure if the rumours are true about Gaz, he's a fine servant of the club and a great captain, if its true it will be very dissapointing.

I still think Birdy is the man to take us forward, we show glimpses of what we are capable of sometimes and he is the man who can bring the best out of the squad. Anyway, who would be your tip to replace him?

Let's just take stock of things shall we? We lost a tremendous number of players last season, with I think only 7 players remaining. It takes time to gel as a team. Yes, there have been disappointing times, but do you not think that the youngsters would have learned a lot from these hard times? It's what makes the top players the players they are today. Let's call it character building!

Admin - I agree with you in much of what you say but I don't feel that we are addressing the needs of these youngsters well enough at the moment.

As I said in my previous post, I believe that a lot of the youngsters have really proved themselves this season particularly up front. I am more concerned that such a rigid approach to back play - directed by the coach - and the less than exceptional performances by most of our senior players.

The one senior player who has really stood out is Bird himself. When he plays our forwards are a much more cohesive unit. This proves that Bird can coach a pack of forwards but he needs other senior players to take a disciplined lead when he isn't playing.

Like I said he is a fine servant of the club and a great captain, he wouldn't let us down in that way, cheers for clearing it up for myself and everyone else
