Ledbury 7s

Ledbury Sevens invite leading Scottish Sevens Club

The Ledbury Sevens is now part of the sevens calendar in the UK. Now in it’s third year, the tournament is the biggest in the Midlands.
“When one considers the quality of the teams participating, and the prize money of £5,000 for the winners, the potential to grow the tournament is huge – we aim to increase the prize money to attract bigger teams in the future” commented Ledbury RFC President, John Wilesmith

For the first time Ledbury RFC has been approached by rugby kit manufacturers who have agreed to sponsor the tournament.

Since re-vamping the Ledbury RFC website, the club is currently receiving several enquiries a week from clubs from all over the country, wishing to enter the tournament. Suffice it to say there is now a waiting list.

The Third Ledbury Charity Sevens on Sunday May 11th 2008, will also see the introduction of an under 16’s Tournament, largely between Midland teams, along with the Ladies Competition, on 3 pitches – the event promises to be a non stop exhibition of quality rugby starting at around 11.00am with the grand final at around 6.00pm
Ledbury’s tournament is co-ordinated by Brigadier Rolph James, Chairman of Welsh Exiles and Wanderers, John Wilesmith President of Ledbury RFC and Director of Rugby Bruce Ruthven.

Out of interest, how will the competition be structured if anyone knows, never been to a 7s tournament before.  Hope to go fingers crossed.

It clashes with the Rugby League Nines tournament, which has now been confirmed to 11th May at Green Stars RFC, not the 10th.  But I'd prefer to go to Ledbury.

And you forgot to say that they play for SEVEN minuits each half  Rolling Eyes   Laughing   Laughing

Great day out last year, hoping for the same this year. Taking a day off my revision to see it!

Lets hope for better weather this time too! We all got soaked last year. Is there a bus going?

Aberavon are not in the 7's (In the teams listed by leenat) They have been replaced by Apache. Apparantly!

Unfortunatly, due to the lunatics at WRL arranging the nines on the same day, I will have to be headed west to aberavon. I mean how will the Bulls manage without my excellent water boy skills.

I hope you will shout twice as loud to compensate. Oh and don't give the announcer grief all day like you and titch did last year!!

Whats happening about transport and who's coming? BALDRAVEN? Wild Raven? Do i need a ball, tee and do i need to bring zimmer frames for after we have finished stepping you?!

Baldraven and SPURMAN is liasing tonight regarding logisitcal moves.  (food, drink and trnaspor).

I will most probably drive as I can store some recliners in the roof box and store the food/drinks etc.

Will let you know,  let me know about Eco etc?

Apart from them not being able to organise a whatsit in a you know where, no, none whatsoever, no start time, no list of teams nothing.

Now the Ledbury details are much easier to get hold of.

Apparently Bridgend's 1st game is at 13:00 but there are a load more games before that.

Yep got another electric cool box for the goodies and the chairs are sorted, I've gor my Welsh flag sorted, so fetch your Blue & White flag and we will set up a 'LITTLE BRIDGEND' when we get there.
