"Celtic Crusaders have gained a place in Super league for the next 3 years, along with Salford. All existing Super league sides remain in the new expanded competition"

It was coming and congratulations to them, your thoughts?

Now what?

How will this effect the Ravens?

Is it good or bad news?

are my first thoughts.

Strong rumour on another site that this means the Crusaders moving to the vacant Cardiff Arms Park in 12 months time when Cardiff RFC & "The Blues" have moved to Leckwith.

I don't know what to think.

I saw the announcement, but my first thoughts were the Ravens, think a crises is looming.

19th August, too long to wait, we need to know what the club plans to do now.

It was mentioned that the Brewery Field is to re-developed by the start of the season 2009, again what does that mean for us?

I'm with you Wild Raven, I don't know what to think.

It could have disastrous effects on us. We need to know the motives of the CC where they intend playing in 2009. Get set for another season of roller coaster rides as a Bridgend fan eh?

Lets stop speculating and wait and see, whatever happens it is out of our hands as supporters.

On the contrary, it is very much in our hands to make sure that our local elected representatives know very definitely the importance of maintaining the existance of the Ravens if they don't want to lose votes.

Will they though.  People say a lot of things to get where they want, but in reality don't give a toss once in post. Also as supporters of any club who willWILL they take notice?

I hope nothing bad happens in the future, but who knows?  Not the elected.   Idea Why can't we 'the club' and the CC work together and bury the hatchet as to what ever has happened in the past and look/step forward for the future of Bridgend as a sporting area. Idea

Might be hard for some people, on both sides of the fence, but Bald Raven, I think you've had a EUREKA moment. Let's hope so!

Quote:
CELTIC CRUSADERS
Whilst well maintained, the ground is limited and old fashioned but there is a commitment to immediately enhance the current facilities. In the medium term the club recognises the need to develop a new facility and appears to be working with the local public agencies to deliver this. As with any new venture, financial projections are more subjective but the club has demonstrated financial stability during its progress through the National Leagues.  The club has built good relationships with commercial partners and TV channel S4C offers exciting opportunities. There is supportive independent market research for Super League in South Wales, although inevitably this can only be fully tested by the club’s actual participation in the competition. The playing infrastructure is very good in places but the club is understandably at the early stages with its scholarship and academy teams.

From the RFL website HERE

Interesting.

As far as I'm concerned, the 2 clubs MUST go their seperate ways.  The Ravens must have their own facility to call home, I am not against the Crusaders building a new stadium, my problem is that I don't want mine and your club to get involved in it.  In Dai Rees, we have someone at the top who is thinking the same, he surely won't let this happen to us.

The only way forward for us, is for the clubs to ahve absolutely no ties together in anyway whatever in the future, no hachthet will ever be buried now, there's too much water under the bridge.

Let's hope today's announcement signal the beginning of the end of the Ravens-Crusaders relationship.

I love Rugby League, but not at the expense of my union club!

I don't understand how we can hope to 'sever all ties' with the Crusaders.

Either LS gets his way and builds a new stadium and sells the Brewery Field for development meaning we can't stay at the Brewery anyway or he redevelops the ground and we ground share. The Local Authority doesn't have the finances or willingness to build us a ground that would meet the Premiership criteria so we would have to drop down the leagues if we play somewhere else.

As much as I would hate to leave the Brewery Field having supported the club for over 30 years, the best future I can see for us is if the Authority and LS get together and build a stadium where the Authority has it written into the agreements that we can not only play but take some share of the revenue. I don't hold out much hope of our Council supporting us in this way like Carmarthen support the turks and Swansea support the Ospreys, but you never know.
